Class/Age Structure

If your child is moving schools from different states in Australia, New Zealand or Pacific Islands, the following table will help you determine what class they should attend.

Within Australia and New Zealand the ages for most children attending school is from 5 years to 18 years. The Islands of the Trans Pacific and Papua New Guinea vary slightly from 5 years to 19 years.

All schools operate a Class year of 1 to 12 with some areas also providing early childhood classes under the titles of kindergarten, transition, preparatory or reception.
